Pewee Valley sits on the western edge of Oldham County, yards away from the Jefferson/Oldham county border. The small city was first settled in 1852 by the Louisville and Frankfort Railroad as Smith’s Station, and renamed Pewee Valley -- after the eastern wood pewees living in the area -- in 1856 following the establishment of its post office.
Residents considering Pewee Valley will love the historic attractions, quiet environment, and unique mix of urban and rural living. Home prices start in the $100s, and reach into the low seven-figure range.
Residents can expect an average commute time of around 22.5 minutes between Pewee Valley and downtown Louisville. Those who prefer mass transit are limited to a single express route served by TARC, via a park-and-ride south of I-71 in nearby Crestwood.
The 1.2 square miles of land Pewee Valley occupies is generally bounded by Ballardsville Road/KY 22 to the north, Crestwood to the east, Old Floydsburg Road to the south, and the Jefferson/Oldham county line to the west. KY 146 passes through Pewee Valley, and both it and KY 22 link the town to I-265 (otherwise known as the Gene Snyder Freeway), taking residents to downtown Louisville, Southern Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio, Frankfort and Lexington, Kentucky, and beyond.
Pewee Valley has numerous parks and historic sites to see and experience. The newest addition to the town is Central Park, a public space located along Central Avenue. The park features a mix of new- and old-growth trees, walking path, wetland viewing deck, gazebo, and an open lawn perfect for hosting several events throughout the year. Pewee Valley’s town square connects with Central Park through a single path running past City Hall.
Speaking of the town square, one of the main attractions is the Little Colonel Playhouse, home of the Little Colonel Players. The theater was established in 1963 at the former site of a grocery store, and has been a mainstay of the community ever since. Dinner theater occurs on Thursday evenings during each performance, with six plays and musicals total taking the stage throughout the season.
Several events occupy the social calendar at Pewee Valley. Every August, the town holds a picnic at its town square, while Central Park hosts an annual summer concert series. Classic car owners are welcome to cruise around town during the annual Cruise-In in late June, and those skilled in art and crafting can peddle their wares in late October during Pewee Arts and Crafts Day. And of course, it isn’t Christmas without the annual Yule Log Celebration at Town Square. Bonfires, Santa Claus, food, music, and more are sure to bring out the holiday cheer in everyone.
Pewee Valley is served by three schools in the Oldham County Schools system, as well as a Catholic private school serving preschool through eighth grade, a Christian academy focused on educating kindergarten through eighth grade students, and another Christian academy covering K-12 students.

My husband and I have worked with Scott for many years. He has always gone above and beyond in all our dealings with him. He helped us get a phenomenal price on the current house we're in now. I've worked with many realtors that have tried to push houses we aren't interested on us, but Scott takes the time to listen and ultimately doesn't pressure us into something we wouldn't want. He's very knowledgeable about the buying/selling process and we've learned a lot throughout the years. Just recently, we learned that by increasing the size of bedrooms in the house, we also need to increase the septic system capacity. I never would have known that if he hadn't explained it to us. I've recommended him to multiple friends of mine, and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great Realtor.
