Polo Fields is a development located minutes away from the Jefferson-Shelby county line in the eastern end of Louisville Metro. The development began as a single subdivision surrounding the Polo Fields Country Club and golf course, with additional neighborhoods established over the years.
Homeowners will enjoy life at Polo Fields, with access to shopping, restaurants, golfing, and more only minutes from their front door.
Home prices begin in the mid-$200s, and peak at $1M. There are both patio homes and single family homes in the master development, so potential home owners have a lot to choose from.
A handful of subdivisions comprised of approximately 850 lots make up the Polo Fields development, and are tied together by the golf course and country club which lends Polo Fields its name. Mean commute time is 24.7 minutes according to ZipAtlas, while mass transit is non-existent in the area where the division lays. Those who would prefer to ride the bus would be best served by the TARC park-and-ride near Middletown Station eight minutes to the west.
The Polo Fields development is generally bounded by the dense forest on the northern end of the golf course, Polo Fields Lane and the golf course to the south, the golf course on the west side of Crosstimbers Drive to the west, and the Meadows subdivision to the east.
The main attraction in Polo Fields is the 18-hole golf course and country club making up most of the original development. However, the club and course are separate from the HOA overseeing Polo Fields, requiring residents to pay a separate membership fee to join. Swimming and tennis courts are also part of the club.
A short walk or drive to the north leads to Long Run Park. The park’s 416.35 acres straddle the Jefferson-Shelby county line, and features an 18-hole golf course, fishing and boating on Long Run Lake, and 1.7-mile multi-use road for driving, riding, or walking.
Not enough golf? A few minutes’ drive to the southwest will bring you to the gates of Valhalla. Designed by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, the famed course has played host to several major championships since opening in 1986, including the 2008 Ryder Cup, and 2014 PGA Championship.
Those interested in shopping and restaurants over handicaps and tee-off times need only hop on U.S. 60 to begin their journey. Fourteen minutes to the southeast leads to The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville, while a 20-minute drive west beats a path toward the shopper’s paradise at Oxmoor Center and Mall St. Matthews.
Meanwhile, foodies have their own Valhalla when it comes to fried chicken. A 20-minute drive toward Shelbyville in the east stops at Claudia Sanders Dinner House, where the original recipe of Colonel Sanders lives on. Other unique local offerings lay to the west, as well, including Mark’s Feed Store (barbecue), Yang Kee Noodle (Asian), and Wick’s (pizza).
For events close to home, Polo Fields Golf & Country Club offers plenty to do away from the green for all to enjoy throughout the year. From the club’s annual Kentucky Derby party and seasonal gatherings for the whole family, to monthly pasta and fried chicken nights, the club has it covered.
Away from home, nearby Middletown and Jeffersontown hold their respective annual festivals in early September, while Louisville is always bustling with activity. Whether you root for the University of Louisville Cardinals at Papa John’s Stadium, attend a big concert at the KFC Yum Center, or take in the masterpieces at 21c Museum Hotel downtown, there’s never a dull moment, and it’s only minutes away from the quiet environment of Polo Fields.
