Where is Lake Forest Located?

Another Image of Lake ForestLake Forest is generally bounded by Shelbyville Road to the south, N Beckley Station Road to the east, I-265 to the west, and the Fox Run development to the north. I-265 (otherwise known as the Gene Snyder Freeway) and U.S. 60 link Lake Forest residents to downtown Louisville, Southern Indiana, and points beyond.

Lake Forest Activities

The neighborhood is no stranger to a full event calendar. The community has something for every resident throughout the year, from monthly socializing events for those new to Louisville, ballroom dancing lessons, and comedy shows, to flu shot clinics, holiday celebrations, and Red Cross-sponsored courses.

Lake Forest Parks and Attractions

Lake Forest has a wide assortment of features to help promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Future Louisville City FC stars can practice their defending or striking on the pitch of the community’s soccer field, while those who prefer the smell of chlorine in the morning can make a few laps around the pool; Lake Forest also fields a swim/dive team for competitors aged 5-17, regardless of skill. Residents can unwind with a hike along the nature trail, catch (and release) a few fish from the lakes along Woodland Ridge Drive and Champion Lakes Place, or practice their downward dogs in a yoga class. And of course, tennis and sand volleyball are good for channeling competitive spirits.

Lake Forest, A Golf Neighborhood

Lake Forest is also home to Lake Forest Country Club, an invitation-only, 18-hole course designed by legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer. The 7,133-yard course boasts men’s, women’s, and couples’ leagues, a junior golfing program, zoysiagrass practice facilities, and more. Tennis and swimming are also available.

Golfers seeking a more open course need only look to the southeast of Lake Forest, where the famed Valhalla Golf Club awaits all. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, a legend on par with Arnold Palmer, the 18-hole course has hosted several major championships, including three PGA Championships, and the 2008 Ryder Cup.

Speaking of green, sharing a boundary with Valhalla is Beckley Creek Park. Part of the Parklands of Floyds Fork, the park is home to the 22-acre Egg Lawn, an egg-shaped great lawn made for hosting events, including the 24-balloon Grand Opening Balloon Glow in 2013. Beckley Creek is also part of the 100-mile Louisville Loop walking/riding trail, boasts an off-leash dog park, and holds several events and classes throughout the year.
