Highview is a neighborhood in the southern end of Louisville, located minutes away from the Jefferson/Bullitt county border. The neighborhood was a former census-designated place until it was annexed by the city during the merger of city and county governments in 2003.
Those looking to call Highview their new forever home will love the neighborhood for its suburban, small-town feel, and access to jobs and other amenities. Home prices range in the low $100s to low $300s.
Over 15,000 make their home in Highview, which includes the smaller developments of Spring Mill and Hollow Creek. The neighborhood straddles Fern Valley Road to the north and I-265 to the south, with Outer Loop cutting through the heart of Highview as its main drag. Shepherdsville Road and South Watterson Trail hem the neighborhood together to the west and east, respectively.
Mean commute time is 22.3 minutes. Two local buses serve the area, generally along the major roads. I-265 connects Highview residents to the rest of Louisville and points beyond.
Directly south of Highview is Quail Chase, a 27-hole course designed by world-renowned architect David Plaff. The course is the only one of its kind in Louisville, and is in accurate compliance with the USGA for sanctioned golf events. A driving range, bar and grill, and pro shop complete the package, with McNeely Lake tying it all together.
Speaking of the lake, its namesake park to the west and south of Quail Chase is one of Louisville's largest parks. The 746-acre park includes 46 acres of fishing with boat ramps and landings, a place to fly model airplanes, hiking trail, and the Korean War Memorial.
A few minutes' drive west on Outer Loop will lead you to Jefferson Mall. Located in the Okolona neighborhood, the 950,350 square-foot mall is the only of six regional shopping centers serving the southern and western portions of the Louisville metro area. Anchor stores include Dillard's, Macy's , JCPenney, and Sears.
