We do our best to adopt technology that makes sense and actually helps the home buying process. One of the items that we've been hesitatnt to adopt is video. It seems that the technology is starting to become more mainstream and helpful. So we're making preperations to introduce video as part of our marketing package. Below is a quick introduction that will accompany all of our videos. We think it turned out great! What do you'll think?

More Norton Commons Homes for Sale in 2012

With new and upgraded amenities and plenty of development planned for the upcoming year, it’s a great time to check out Norton Commons homes for sale.

A recent CJ article ( Okay, it wasn't so recent, we are just behind! It was from January ) points out, growth in the neighborhood has been delayed because the recession hit right when developers expected it to really take off. But officials are expecting 2012 to be a big year for Norton Commons, with plans for the development of 100 more lots, a new pool, park improvements, and the construction of a YMCA branch and a church. Here's an overview of the article :

Oval Park. Planned improvements to the eight-acre park include more trees and the installation of lights and benches along the walking trails that traverse the space. Developers also plan to work on a lake just west of the park this year, giving residents a water feature to walk around. Charles Osborn III, managing director of Traditional Town, which manages Norton Commons said he would also like to see an amphitheater between the park and lake.

Bergamot Park Pool. This year should see the completion of a second pool for residents of Norton Commons. The Bergamot Park pool area will include a 2,500-square-foot pool, a separate kids pool, spray fountain, shaded playground area and lawn area. The pool is scheduled to open around the first of August, Osborn said.

St. Bernadette Catholic Church. The 31,200-square-foot building will have seating capacity for 1,200 and an overflow area for 300 more, along with an 80-foot bell tower, meeting room, nursery and bride’s room. Church officials plan for it to be complete by November.

YMCA of Greater Louisville. The YMCA broke ground on the 44,000-square-foot branch in the fall and plans to finish in early 2013. It will offer health and wellness programs and will have two indoor swimming pools, a gymnasium, fitness center, meeting spaces and a supervised Kid’s Club area with an indoor climbing maze and outdoor fenced play area.

Amenities are the reason many people choose to live in Norton Commons, Osborn said. “It’s a lifestyle choice,” he said. “We’re trying to promote ‘neighborhood,’ the feeling you belong to a community here.”

It's a great time to find a home in a neighborhood with the amenities and lifestyle you've always wanted. Contact us to learn more about Norton Commons and other neighborhoods in the Louisville area.

Hottest New Pet - Jellyfish!

Welcome to the third installment of our weekly post about cool, unique, high tech and potentially energy saving products for your home. I'm SUPER excited about this post. This past year, along with my beatiful wife, I married into pet ownership. I've owned pets before, but it had been a while. Now, most days I work from my home office with a Jack Russel at my feet. He's a little co-dependant and likes to actually sleep ON my feet. Which in the winter time, he'll get no complaints from me. However, he also likes to bark at the UPS truck, the FEDex Truck, the Postman, the trash man, the whatever big truck happens to be driving by my street truck. That gets annoying when I'm trying to talk on the phone. We also have to make arrangements for him when we decide to take over night trips. Now, I'm not saying that it isn't worth it. But, there is something to be said for pet ownership with a lot less maintanece. This brings me to Jellyfish!

Fish tanks and gold fish have long been a staple for the gateway pet. How about stepping up your game? This all in one kit available from http://www.jellyfishart.com is sure to be a hit. Be the first person in your neighborhood to get a pet jellyfish!

Connecting your Louisville home to the internet!

So last week I introduced you to a new series in posts I would be doing this year about gadgets and devices for your home. This week's post is about an item called Twine. Twine is essentially a WifI card that has sensors built into it, along with batteries. The other component of Twine is an online interface that lets you do "If this happens, do this..." programming. For instance, a common occurance at my house is forgetting to place the clothes from the washer and place them into the dryer. Simply place Twine on the washer, and setup a programming rule with the built in motion sensor, that when the vibration stops for longer than 5 minutes, send an email to remind you to place them into the dryer. Such a simple task that causes me so much grief :)

Twine doesn't come cheap. Priced at $99.00 per device, more than one or two isn't very practical. However, I expect the cost of the device to fall in the coming months. Built in sensors include an internal temperature sensor and an accelerometer for vibration, impact and motion detection. Additional external sensors plug into the multipurpose jack. Once plugged in, the additional sensors show up as options for the if/then programming logic. External sensors currently available include a magnetc switch ( useful for doors or anything that moves ) and a moisture sensor -- can you say early sump pump failure warning system?

In your Louisville Home - Programmable Thermostat Nest

Happy New Years! I realize we are already 4 days into 2012... Most people had their first day back to work yesterday, which meant lots of catching up to do!

Finish Line Realty fully embraces new technology, usually long before our peers ever even hear about it. That said, we don't go around adding technology, just for the sake of technology. The founders of Finish Line Realty ( Scott Hack and Jon Karlen ) consider themselves geek. We embrace technology only when it makes sense. That's why we are constantly upgrading and enhancing our website. We firmly believe that technology makes our lives better! We've come a long way in the past 10 years with the internet and connectivity. Can you imagine what the next 10 years will bring? We're going to bring you one unique item for your home each week this year. Most of the items will have a high tech slant. Not all of them will, but we hope you find them all cool and innovative. We'll do our best to introduce you to items that help you save money. Which is exactly what our first product is designed to do.

The very first item we'd like to introduce you to is Nest. A programmable thermostat that you don't actually program. The thermostat learns, based on your adjustments when it should lower or raise the temperature. Once you teach it a routine, it will follow that routine. Going to be working late and don't want the thermostat to turn up the heat too early? No problem! As long as you have an internet connection and a wirelesss router at your home, the Nest thermostat can be connected to the internet and controlled remotely. You'll be able to use your smart phone at the office, in the car, etc.
